Thaqif Aris

Writer and Researcher

What do you do?
I engage in a mental tug of war within the multitudes that are contained within myself to break down and analyze perceptions (be it personal or public) ranging from the arts to politics, for the amusement of others.
Why do you do what you do and how do you convince people that you love what you do?
I find that writing has allowed me to identify and spell out personal feelings and expressions that otherwise would have been ignored due to their volatility. I find that regardless of what you do if you put pure effort and heart into it, people will notice the things you love, unneeding of convincing.
What’s your birth chart and which one do you resonate most with?
I am a Virgo, Leo, Leo. Not really a believer in the compartmentalization of the signs, but they are still interesting to read nonetheless.
What’s your best skill, and one skill that you wish you had?
Cliche, but finding ways to procrastinate. Water bending.
What’s a quintessential signature you that many can be familiar with?
My habit of zoning out (rarely but typically occurs during inopportune times) and talking to myself.
How did you get to where you are now and what were some of the fall backs that you had to go through?
I had to go through a lot, which sometimes can be frustrating because you tend not to give credit for the battles you’ve won. Uncertainty, insecurity, and a sense of emptiness and vulnerability tend to take me out of my best.
What’s your favorite photo in your gallery and why?
Any photo that has friends and family. Currently studying abroad and miss them dearly!
What’s your pet peeve?
People who are rude to service providers, cannot handle them.
Describe to us what your ideal collaboration and client is. Also, who would you want to work with?
Am looking for those who are obsessed with understanding the molding of identity (be it individual or communal) through a historical lens. Am also very interested in diving into the fashion industry and analyzing local fashion as a means of expressing oneself throughout the ages.
How should one approach you to working together?
I’m a very approachable person, just start :)
