A multi-disciplinary contemporary artist, fashion designer, Malaysia ice hockey player, model, the Editor at Large for Mulazine & a tempe-loving-duyung. My philosophy as an artist is experimentally playful, there’s no box, inside or outside.
Why do you do what you do and how do you convince people that you love what you do?
I really just like to play, if you do too then we can just lepak (chill) in the same playground, you’ll see what I mean.
What’s your birth chart and which one do you resonate most with?
I’m a Pisces!
What’s your best skill, and one skill that you wish you had?
I shapeshift a lot, so I tend to be versatile with collaging different elements in my life. That’s where experimenting comes easy for me. I have a thing for martial arts, particularly silat. She’s working on making it a skill she has than she wished she had.
What’s a quintessential signature you that many can be familiar with?
I try not to fit in anywhere so I can fit in everywhere, so she’s still figuring that out.
How did you get to where you are now and what were some of the fall backs that you had to go through?
I’ve been actively creating work from the age of 15, as an outsider artist, I learned through what’s available in my environment and surrounding, gradually I got to where I am at today. As an unconventional Muslim woman, there’s a lot that people think they have a say on, and your ears don’t exactly come with a mute button. Thank god I am a dreamer.
What’s your favorite photo in your gallery and why?
Tiny dhani playing with giant scissors. She knows what she’s doing.
What’s your pet peeve?
People who just don’t try at all to understand.
Describe to us what your ideal collaboration and client is. Also, who would you want to work with?
If you like to play, and open to experimenting in your process, then we’re sure to hit it off.
How should one approach you to working together?
Kirim salam then bait me with snacks!
