TO INSPIRE AND TO CREATE WITH ASHRAF ISHAK

Reading Time: 3 minutes Seorang egoist berdarah Bugis. Suka bertemankan senja malam dan kata-kata yang indah. Seorang anak, suami, pengkritik, pemuzik, pencinta, pelajar, pemikir, penanya, pembisu. Semua itu aku, Ashraf Ishak.

SATU PEGGY DI GOUALA LUMPUR

Reading Time: 4 minutes I’ll take you back to November 30, 2019. It was a sweaty party that I arrived too early for. One claypot chicken rice, two Family Mart trips and three dead phones later, the whole of REX KL was housing the likes of party go-ers and anti-socialites crooning lullabies to themselves in corners. THE GIRLS WITH POTENTIAL: Isabella Walton

Reading Time: 5 minutes We summarise what ADHD is and the impact it has on our lives. This is illustrated through a collection of our home footage. Throughout our childhood, we have constantly heard, that we are ‘almost there’ but have yet to reach our “potential.” This film will expose how toxic this type of feedback is for hardworking messy women like myself in the long run. This is supported by the words of Psychiatrist/ ADHD Specialist Morris Zwi who explains that women with ADHD do exist, and we need to support them.

KAMI (1982) BY ALIF AZIZAN

Reading Time: 5 minutes Kami (which means “Us” if you are a non Malay speaker) was directed by Patrick Yeoh, who was a film critic and a respected figure in the history of Malaysian cinematography. This film serves as Sudirman’s debut and last film due to its (well, not so encouraging) performance on the big screen. The film revolves around the lives of two adolescents, Tookoo (played by Sudirman) and Din (acted by child actor Zul Zamanhuri) trying to survive the big city of Kuala Lumpur.

WOMEN’S MARCH IN MALAYSIA AND FEMINISM by LI YI

Reading Time: 4 minutes Due to these different forms, feminism is no longer an ideology for the heterosexual or homosexual women, it now embraces people of different spectrums including heterosexual men as long as they truly understand the ideology.

SWIMMING POOLS

Reading Time: < 1 minute The way you turn & look at me, makes ripples in my heart, the same way there are ripples in the swimming pool when we dip our feet into them.

LAMER: BARCELONA’S UP AND COMING EROTICIST BY ARIEF ARMAN

Reading Time: 5 minutes
Sex is not merely an act, but a force. A force that has driven, and continues to drive people towards both ecstasy and despair, both deeply personal and yet universally understood. For Lamer, this ‘brutal way to interact with one another’ is not implying a violent form of communication, rather it is the point to which two (or more) individuals find themselves in complete surrender to one another, connecting in mind and spirit by means of engaging with the corporeal body.

MASIH SEGAN: NADHIR NOR BY ELNA ISMAIL

Reading Time: 4 minutes The creatures with leaves, tendrils and petals all in their own world. This multidisciplinary artist has always been fascinated with mythology and ancient cultures. He often uses this theme of the subject as an exploration of his illustrations. When in conversation with Nadhir Nor by Elna Ismail, he believes that there is always a story worth to be told and how it is relatable to modern society.
